Dr. Doran obtained a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Rutgers University, followed by the completion of his master’s degree in psychology at the New School for Social Research out of New York City. Subsequently, he pursued a doctoral program in psychology at the University of Hartford and a postdoctoral fellowship specialization in neuropsychology at Harvard Medical School out of Boston.
Throughout his distinguished 20-year military career, he received comprehensive training and practical experience within the United States Navy, on the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI).
After his departure from the military, he played a pivotal role in the establishment of a community-based concussion clinic, which rapidly emerged as one of the nation’s most active facilities, overseeing nearly 20,000 patient visits annually, delivering educational events to over 100,000 children and their families, and contributing to the passage of Maryland’s Concussion Law.
In addition to his notable scholarly achievements and extensive clinical experience, he has had the privilege of serving as an assistant professor, imparting knowledge in the field of psychology, at esteemed institutions such as the United States Naval Academy and Johns Hopkins University.
Dr. Doran has been married for over 30+ years with 3 children and a small French bulldog residing in the Annapolis, MD region. Family remains the bedrock of his success and when he breaks away from his work he loves attending the occasional sporting event with loved ones.
