To Refer Patient For Testing

BrainCussion is an essential tool for you to use post-trauma to help understand your patient’s injuries, make concussion decision treatment or referral decisions, and to assess when/if it is important to return the patient to school, work, or other activities.

When is the BrainCussion testing indicated?

It is in your patient’s best interests, as well as established best practices, to have a patient tested post-injury who has/is exhibiting the following symptoms:

  • Trauma to the head

  • Loss of consciousness

  • Headache

  • Confusion

  • Irritability

  • Dizziness

  • Blurred vision

  • Ringing in the ears

  • Nausea

  • Vomiting

  • Slurred speech

  • Fatigue

  • Appearing dazed

  • Fogginess

Further, delayed symptoms could include:

  • Memory problems

  • Difficulty in concentration

  • Sleep impairment

  • Problem with the senses, such as difficulty tasting or smelling, or sensitivity to light.

  • Balance issues

  • Changes in moods

  • Crying and emotional swings

Any or all of these symptoms could indicate a need for further diagnostic testing using BrainCussion

What are the risks to my practice if I fail to recognize, assess, or treat a concussion?

The better question is what are the risks to your patient if you ignore these symptoms. But from a liability standpoint, your potential risks could be significant. It is in your patient (and your practice’s best interests) to establish a concussion protocol to rule out or asses the injury and have documentation to support the decision. The objective data that the testing provides is critical to concussion management as it provides irrefutable evidence of a patient’s condition. This objective data helps you, or the specialist to whom you may refer, make accurate concussion diagnosis and treatment decisions.
